Donna Ricco has been a successful fashion designer for a long time — but it took Michelle Obama to make her famous.
On Wednesday, the wife of Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama took a turn as co-host of TV talkfest “The View.” When the show’s audience saw her breezy, black-and-white, high-waisted print dress designed by Ricco, they had to have it. Virtually overnight, the dress all but sold out at the White House/Black Market boutiques that sell it for an affordable $148.
Now when was the last time any of us cared about what the 1st Lady was wearing? When was the last time a First Lady mattered in the fashion industry? It was before my lifetime but maybe those JFK comparisons that Obama gets may also hold true for Michelle and Jackie. Hmmmm?

This is the typical mainstream media telling itself this is some sort of “makeover” of Michelle….no its not. This is Michelle being exactly the same person she was 6 months ago…hell 6 years ago, 16 years ago. The fact that the neo-cons have put their lying spin on the front pages and painted her as someone she is not, does not mean that NOW she is “changing”. Quite the contrary, Michelle is an inelligent, witty, beautiful woman and instead of allowing the GOP to TELL you who she is, she is out there to let you know who she is herself.
Actually, Michelle is a neck-slinging, finger-snapping, chip-on-her-shoulder, man-hating,jealous of white women, racist, America-hating communist, typically angry black woman. At least that is what the MSM wants us to believe. This society wants, or allows, all of our assertive, independent, women to be labeled that way.
You’re so right, they want us to believe that she is being shaped into some sort of politically acceptable person. They want us to believe that there are two versions of Mrs. Obama.
They want us to believe that the Michelle before Barack declared his candidacy and the Michelle after are different…with the former being unacceptable.
She was working that dress! It’s fabulous because it looks so classy, kind of like something you would see in an old fashioned movie. If you like how a sophisticated woman like Michelle strides in style, then you will LOVE how Bianca runs the show. I’m currently working with Toyota and I’m really hyped to spread the word about our new interactive webisodes, If Looks Could Kill. They follow an aspiring fashion assistant, Bianca, who is a prime example of a woman who’s got it going on. I’m talking the dream job, a man who’s got all the ladies drooling, and the spice to keep it all together when hell hits the fan. Think James Bond meets Sanaa Lathan in “Something New”, Bianca is the girl who isn’t afraid to run in her Louboutin heels!
